WATSONVILLE INSIGHT

The Full Story About Living Room Dharma

In the early 2000s, Nancy Gil decided to start a humble Insight Meditation sit in her living room at her home in Watsonville, California. When she learned she was going to die, she threw herself a "going away party" and made sure that all of her belongings were in-place to go to the right people–and this included her body, which she planned to donate to the UCSF (University of California San Francisco) Willed Body Program. To our delight, she ordained as a Theravada Buddhist Nun and was given the name Mettapanna (Loving-Wisdom) the day before she died. She is a still shining light to those of us who continue to practice the dharma/dhamma in Watsonville and its surrounding areas.

Through our practice, we wish to honor Mettapanna and our other teachers on the path to liberation.

May we honor ourselves and them by the goodness of our practice.
