Watsonville Insight is located in a predominately Hispanic and multi-race community on the indigenous unceded territory of the ancestors of the Amah Mutsun tribal band. As a Chinese-American growing up on this land, I had three grandmothers: my biological Chinese grandmother on my father's side (not pictured), my Mexcian abuelita Maria Gurrero (pictured under the marigolds), and my white grandmother Nany Gil (last row, center). All of these women, now passed, have influenced my life with great magnitude. May our community be held with the wisdom and strength of all of our ancestors.
