“You are only free when you belong no place — you belong every place — no place at all. The price is high. The reward is great.” -Maya Angelou on Freedom: A 1973 Conversation with Bill Moyers

How many of us struggle with the feeling of not belonging? This suffering can be debilitating and isolating. According to Brene Brown, true belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are. In this half-day long, we will explore the internal process of self-awareness, self-acceptance, and learning how we take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha in order to find true belonging. We will also explore how our relationship to ourselves expands out to different communities, including those we feel “other” to. This half-day long of practice is dedicated to discovering how to brave the wilderness of our own hearts and our relationships to others.
